About Whistling Straits - The Irish Course
Designer Pete Dye showed great creativity when building the Irish at Whistling Straits which is just inland from the great lake and interspersed by four meandering streams, the grassland-and-dunes aspect of the Irish course is a deceivingly tranquil landscape. The Irish course is ranked #35 in Golfweek's 2015 Best Resort Courses and #47 in Golf Digest's 2015/2016 America's Greatest Public Golf Courses. A great compliment to the Straits course, the Irish stands on its own representing unique character and moguls running throughout the course with fascinating green complexes that can challenge even the scratch player. The 18th hole on the Irish can play as long as 558 yards from the back tee and is the epitome of dramatic with a green that cannot be missed on either side, a smart play is to aim at the center of the green and take your par before heading to the Irish Pub.
